Affinio is a Nova Scotia, Canada-based data company that extracts social media insights to find out what specific consumers think of different brands. The software-based services provider works with a number of ad agencies and other businesses to find out what coupon moms, gamers, music-loving teen girls, and everyone in between are interested in, in real-time.
So we asked Affinio to pull the Twitter numbers from the tweet-happy audience of U.S.-based digital marketers—a group that is near and dear to Adweek's heart. One of the most interesting findings was where they like to eat when they throw their low-calorie New Year's resolutions out the window and pull up to a fast-food drive-thru.
Affinio said it looked at the top five quick-serve brands—McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Dairy Queen and Sonic—in the U.S. and dug up which ones were most popular with digital marketers.
Just for fun on a Friday evening, here are the results.
Interesting, huh? Brand players, creatives, agency staffers and other marketers love them some Sonic. Nothing against Sonic, it's a fine quick-serve brand, but woulda thunk it? The findings also bode surprisingly well for Dairy Queen, while Wendy's, Burger King and McDonald's have their market share.
Hey folks, don't say you didn't learn anything this weekend.
